# Serviced apartment or hotel in London: rooms, services and cost

For two nights alone, a hotel room can be enough. For a family or a month of working in London, separate bedrooms, a kitchen and laundry may change the choice. Start with how the space will be used.

## Rooms and sleeping arrangements

One hotel room and a one-bedroom apartment are different layouts. The apartment’s bedroom is separate from its living space. A studio combines those spaces. For a family, two bedrooms with a twin room may solve the sleeping arrangement without using the living-room sofa.

Beaufort House at 45 Beaufort Gardens lists one- to four-bedroom apartments. The Milestone’s residences at 1 Kensington Court have two or three bedrooms. These are useful categories to request when a group would otherwise book several hotel rooms.

## Meals and the daily routine

A kitchen lets you make breakfast before an early meeting or feed children at their usual time. Calico House includes kitchens and washing and drying facilities; Marylebone Mews records fitted kitchens and housekeeping three times a week. Hotel meals and daily room service can be convenient for a short visit, especially when nobody wants to cook.

Some apartments have hotel services too. Amberley at Mayfair Park Residences uses services from 45 Park Lane, with pool, gym and spa access. Its six-month minimum makes it a different proposition from booking a hotel room for a weekend.

## Price the whole group

As a worked example, two rooms at £220 each total £440 a night, or £3,080 over seven nights. An apartment at £350 totals £2,450 for the same period: a £630 difference before any service or tax differences. These are illustrative amounts, not quoted hotel or apartment prices.

Actual catalogue starting rates have a £250 median in Kensington and £245 in Chelsea. Those samples mix apartment sizes. A two-bedroom offer for your dates can be considerably higher. Use a final quote for the room arrangement you need, including compulsory charges.

## The length of stay can decide it

Darley House requires 90 nights and Hill Street three months. Other residences accept shorter periods. Calico House’s usual term is three months despite its 24-hour front office.

Choose a hotel for the services you expect to use, or an apartment for the rooms and domestic routine you need.
