What Hoxton is like to stay in

Hoxton has a long history as a working district. Furniture making was once its main industry, and many of its warehouses and workshops were built for that trade. In the 1990s, artists moved into the empty buildings, and White Cube opened a gallery on Hoxton Square that helped put the area on the map. Today, the mix of new flats, converted industrial buildings and older council estates gives the area a varied look. The Hoxton Hall music hall, built in 1863, still hosts performances and community events and remains a local landmark.
Culture and food
The Museum of the Home on Kingsland Road shows how Londoners have lived over four centuries, in almshouses with period rooms and gardens. Galleries and project spaces are spread around the neighbourhood, and the Regent's Canal towpath leads west to Islington and east to Victoria Park.
Kingsland Road, known locally as the Pho Mile, is lined with Vietnamese restaurants, and Columbia Road flower market is nearby on Sundays.
