Temporary accommodation when moving to London

A temporary apartment gives you a London address while you find a permanent home. The expensive mistake is booking a term that does not fit the gap, then discovering that an early departure or extension has different conditions.

How long is the gap?

Darley House takes 90 nights. Hill Street takes three months, as recorded by our team. Calico House normally takes three months. Amberley takes enquiries from six months. A six-week move needs a shorter-stay building, even if the apartment photographs look right.

Three calendar months starting on 1 March 2027 end on 1 June: 92 nights. Ninety nights from the same arrival date end on 30 May. Use the actual departure date in the request, especially if a school term or new tenancy controls the move.

Choose around the first month’s journeys

For an office near Bank, Calico House on Bow Lane removes the need to cross the West End each morning. For work around Bond Street, Darley House on Gilbert Street puts you in Mayfair. A family searching schools in Kensington may prefer the larger categories at Fraser Suites Kensington or the Milestone Residences.

For scale, the City’s catalogue median recorded starting rate is £196 a night across eight prices, or £5,880 for 30 nights at that figure. Kensington’s is £250 across 12 prices, or £7,500. These are mixed-size samples; a family flat requires its own quotation. The cost guide explains the figures.

Keep the move possible

Find out how much notice is needed to extend, whether the rate changes, and whether the same apartment can be held. Get the charge for leaving early if your permanent home becomes ready sooner. Put those terms alongside the deposit and payment dates.

A furnished apartment has limited room for a household’s belongings. If furniture is in storage, arrange delivery after the permanent home is ready. For the temporary stay, send the team the guest count, bedrooms, pets, laundry and access requirements, plus the locations you expect to visit most days.
